[Sariel - Touhou Highly Responsive to Prayers]

Made this description up for Sariel in case she returns in the windows era:

“Sariel

Angel of Death

Species: Angel
Abilities: Manipulation of death, soul transfer
Age: Old as time itself
Occupation: Mistress of the Fallen Temple and Ruins of Vina
Location: Makai and Heaven

Sariel is one of the two final bosses of Highly Responsive to Prayers. Unlike Konngara, Sariel has a second form, which Reimu struggled to overcome. Despite living in Makai, Sariel is actually not one of Shinki’s creations. Rather, the two are sisters, having moved to Makai shortly after Shinki created the realm. Sariel is also the mother of Elis, the father being a yet unnamed vampire.”

Actually now that you mention the "Evil Eye" thing, I looked on YuugenMagan's page on the Touhou wiki, and in the origin section it mentions this:

"The Judaic angel of death, Sariel, is associated with evil eyes and is said to be able to ward them off. Due to the appearance of Sariel in the game and Makai itself containing numerous references to Abrahamic imagery, YuugenMagan is most likely based off of the Jewish concept of evil eyes."

Makes me wonder if Yuugen and Sariel are enemies. They also have similar health bars, so that's likely the case.

YO I LOVE THESE DESIGNS SO MUCH

I posted my HRtP redesigns too but yours are like objectively better. I wanna share my own thoughts on each

Reimu - she looks simple compared to the others but I like how you made her hair black instead of purple

Shingyoku - I wonder why they're koi fish, either way it's neat, kinda wish the male and female forms had their own unique appearances but it's great nontheless

Yuugen - you somehow managed to make them more terrifying lol

Elis - my girl took "turning into a bat" literally, also I like how there's a star on her wing, it's kinda like what I did for my redesign coincidentally enough

Sariel - by far the most terrifying, I love angels and seeing Sariel resemble one of the more eldritch ones makes sense given what she's based on (I believe it's the angel of death and healing?)

Mima - guess this is what happened to her after she got ditched, but in all seriousness she looks neat with the dark aesthetic

Kikuri - I think someone finally remembers she's based off of the Shinto goddess of marriage

Konngara - I love how she's all-red; it's a nice way to contrast Sariel's blue and it shows she's not afraid to whoop ass

I think I hyperfixate on this game too much but I had to type this down because this fucks and I would die for a reskin of the game with your redesigns

for shingyoku, i was indeed planning on making human forms for both the male and female sides, but i thought it'd be neater if it was just the koi fish posing like a yin-yang

they don't really have much to them in canon anyway, so anything is fair game imo
and i like to take the youkai approach for the characters in the most "non-human" way possible without taking away their identities in the process
